The Eco Councils visit to Veolia
The focus for our school Eco Council is recycling, both in the community and within school. Last term the children looked at how we can reduce waste in our lunch boxes. This term they had the opportunity to visit Veolia Energy Recovery Facility in Staffordshire.
The pupils were given a tour of the Materials Recovery Facility. They learnt how through the use of modern technology all the materials are sorted, including the use of magnets. They found out how materials are bulked and then sent to market to be remade into other products. It helped the children understand how the United Kingdom is working to become a world leader in reuse of resources.
