Woodlands Primary School and Nursery

Educational Visits

We believe that taking children on educational school visits and residentials is one of the most exciting and memorable parts of life at a primary school. In each phase, we aim for all children to take an active part in a variety of visits over the course of the year to enhance their learning.

Much of our curriculum is designed to utilise the beautiful and varied landscapes and experiences offered in and around our local area as well as across the United Kingdom.

These opportunities include visits to local places of interest such as Madeley, Blists Hill, Enginuity, Wroxeter Roman City and a study of the River Severn including the Ironbridge.

To enrich the children’s learning and to provide them with first hand experiences across a range of areas of study, we also travel a little further afield. We visit the National Sealife Centre, Chester Zoo Chester Roman Amphitheatre, Cosford Aerospace Museum, Dudley Zoo and Gardens, Aberdyfi, ThinkTank and The Black Country Living Museum.

Every year, our Key Stage 2 choir takes part in Young Voices. For the past 20 years, Young Voices has staged the largest children’s choir concerts in the world. Woodlands’ choir sing their hearts out at Resorts World arena in Birmingham with around 5,000 children. After an afternoon of rehearsals, parents and carers are invited to jointhe children for their final performance.
