Woodlands Primary School and Nursery

Residential Experiences

We believe that taking children on educational school visits and residentials is one of the most exciting and memorable parts of life at a primary school. In each phase, we aim for all children to take an active part in a variety of visits over the course of the year to enhance their learning.

To bring learning to life and to give the children experiences that they will never forget, each year we arrange residential visits for our Key Stage 2 pupils.

Year 3- Beaudesert Outdoor Activity Centre

Our year 3 pupils are invited to spend two days and one night at Beaudesert, Cannock Chase. During their time at the centre, they will have the opportunity to try out archery, go-karts, crate-stacking and tree climbing. When it gets dark, the whole group will take part in a sing-song around the campfire where the night is finished with hot chocolate and biscuits. Click on the link below to discover more!

Year 4- Pioneer Centre

During the Autumn Term, pupils in year 4 will have the opportunity to spend 2 nights and 3 days at the Pioneer Centre in Shropshire. This will be a new setting for this year group but one that comes highly recommended by many other schools! Click on the link below to discover more.

Year 5- London

During January, the pupils in year 5 are invited to spend an exciting visit to London. During the experience, pupils will see some of the sights including Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus, the London Eye and the River Thames. The group will have pre-theatre dinner at The Rainforest Cafe before travelling to the West End to see a show. Since this residential began, the children have watched: The Lion King, Matilda, Mrs Doubtfire and Wicked on the West End! After a restful night, the children will spend the morning exploring the Science Museum before making their way back to Telford. Click on the links below to discover more!

Year 6- Arthog

Arthog has been a favourite residential visit for some of our oldest children for many years! Year 6 pupils will have the opportunity to spend 4 nights, 5 days on the Welsh coast. Arthog Outdoor Education Centre is a purpose built residential centre within its own private grounds in a stunning location overlooking Barmouth Bay and the Mawddach estuary. The coastline is varied, with a mix of expansive sandy beaches, rocky shores and cliffs. Gorge scrabbling, orienteering, a night walk along the estuary to Fairbourne, rock climbing and canoeing are just some of the activities that the children will experience.
