Woodlands Primary School and Nursery

School Meals

We are proud to offer a range of delicious, fresh meals, cooked on site by our catering team ‘Grow’,  in the school dining hall. Here, the children can enjoy their meal times by socialising with other year groups and siblings. We serve freshly cooked meals daily with a vegetarian option available. Meal times are interesting and healthy with a variety of seasonal fruit, vegetables and more- our school Council play an active role in ensuring that meal options are child-friendly! Each morning, the children select their lunch choice from the meal of the day, or a jacket potato.  Lunch money is paid online, using the Parent Pay portal.

Lunch Time in Early Years

Children in nursery and reception have their lunch in the comfort of their own classroom! The meals are served in just the same way as in the hall but this way, the children feel much more at home eating in a very familiar environment.

UNIVERSAL FREE SCHOOL MEALS FOR YEARS reception TO YEAR 2

If your children are in reception, year 1 or year 2 are entitled to a Universal Free School Meal.  You will be required to complete a form on your entry to school as registering could raise extra funds for the school, to fund valuable support like extra tuition, additional teaching or school activities.  From year 3 to 6 you need to apply separately for Free School Meals, so please use the link below for further information.

Sandwiches and Packed Lunches

Children are welcome to bring packed lunches to school if they prefer that to school meals. They are eaten in the school hall alongside the children with school meals. Similarly, early years children with sandwiches also eat with their classmates. We ask that parents offer a packed lunch that provides a healthy and varied selection of foods. Due to allergies, we do not allow nut based products. We do not permit children to bring fizzy drinks to school, but encourage water, or sugar free squash.
