School Council
OUR PUPIL VOICE GROUPS ARE PART OF THE TEAM AT WOODLANDS. WE REALLY VALUE WHAT THE CHILDREN HAVE TO SAY AND INCLUDE THEM IN DECISION MAKING ACROSS THE SCHOOL.
School councillors are appointed to their role through a democratic school election process, that takes place bi-annually.
The School Council Class Representatives meet regularly with members of the Inclusion team, to share the views and ideas of the children and support decision making about our school. As a pupil voice group, the children share ideas and come up with action plans.
The council are actively involved in organising and supporting many events, an example of these includes:
- Red Nose Day
- Children In Need
- Summer Fayres
- McMillan coffee mornings
- Contributing to the school lunch menu
- Raising awareness of road safety for children, parents and neighbours in our area. This is promoted through competitions and assemblies and events, such as “Be Bright, Be Seen” aimed at raising awareness of the importance of walking to school in bright clothes so we can be seen by passing traffic.
- Walk to School Week
- Previously Our school have achieved the GOLD Modeshift STARS Award. This is a national schools awards scheme that has been established to recognise schools that have demonstrated excellence in supporting cycling, walking and other forms of sustainable transport.
This year’s focus is mental wellbeing, physical wellbeing and fitness and healthy eating.
