  • The musically talented Year 12 pupils at Abraham Darby Academy have started to run ”Introduction to Music” lessons for pupils from local primary schools.  The programme will run for 6 weeks and introduce the children to rhythms, pitch, musical instruments and show how an orchestra is formed.  The pupils from Woodlands Primary School have been the first group to take up the opportunity and have made fantastic progress, with everyone enjoying playing and singing along to “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” this week.   The aim of the project is to encourage the junior school pupils to start learning to play a musical instrument, and to join the Abraham Darby Academy Megaband.  Mr Hadley, the Principal, said that the Academy can offer free music lessons to pupils from local primary schools, and these free lessons continue when they join Abraham Darby Academy in Year 7.  The Music department run a Saturday Music College from 9am to 12pm every week, and welcome any wind instrument or percussion player, of grade 1 standard and above, who would like to come along and join a band.  If you would like further details, please drop into the Academy on a Saturday morning.
