Reception News Autumn 2, Week 3

What a great week in Reception! The children have been busy learning all of the songs and practicing for the upcoming nativity performance. During our Mathematics sessions, we have been practising identifying the properties of circle and triangle shapes. Children have noticed similarities and differences between different types of triangle shapes.

Nursery News Autumn 2 week 3

What a great week in nursery! The children have been busy learning all of the songs and practicing for their upcoming nativity performance. During their adult direction time, nursery have been learning about 2-dimenional shapes and their properties and thinking about selecting appropriate shapes to make pictures.

Reception News Autumn 2, Week 2

It has been a very busy week in reception class!

This week, children have been learning all about Diwali during reception project. Learners have been making their own diya lamps, using natural resources to make diyas, reading stories and trying special Diwali sweets!

Nursery News Autumn term 2 week 2

It has been a very busy week in nursery!

This week, nursery children have been identifying rhyming words in the story ‘Oi Frog!’ by Kes Gray. They have acted out parts of the story and have used mark-making to represent their ideas. During project learning time, children have responded to the provocation “What’s inside a spiral?” and have studied different artists and then have selected different media to represent their ideas.

It has been a great week in Reception!

This week, children have been learning about 1 more and 1 less as key concepts in Mathematics. We have been using physical objects on five frames to show what 1 more or 1 less than a number to 5 is.

For our Reception project, children have been thinking carefully about the power of music on our emotions. Learners have been talking about and experiencing different genres of music and communicating how it makes them feel. Children have also been learning how to represent music in abstract ways such as drawing how music changes.

What a week in nursery! The children have continued to explore spirals in nature, reading a story called ‘Swirl by Swirl’ by Joyce Sidman and using different media to represent their ideas.

Next week, Nursery will be learning the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs’ and thinking about the characters. They will be talking about their ideas and using mark-making and role play to demonstrate their understanding.

Reception Autumn 1, Week 5

It has been another busy week in Reception. During our Reception project, we have been thinking all about different human features around our environment. Children went on a walk around the school to look for different features. Together, children and educators discussed which were human features and why. Children then represented the different human features that they noticed through wooden blocks, watercolour pencils, drawing and painting.
