Young Voices Charity Single

I have received this link from Young Voices that features the single of ‘Proud’ that was recorded at the rehearsal for Young Voices with Heather Small.

All the children in choir, who attended the Young Voices concerts were recorded singing in rehearsal. These have now been mixed together to feature all the recordings and released as a charity single in aid of Place2B.

The link is below which will take you to the websites to show where you can buy the single for 99p.

Here is a link to the music video that was also made. I’ve not managed to spot Woodlands in it – but we may be there as they were filming whilst we were singing away!

Year 4 Spellings

Below is a list of Year 3/4 Spellings. These are the spellings that we will focus on in class alongside our spelling scheme.

We follow the RWI spelling programme which has a different focus for each unit as well as ‘Special Focus’ units. The scheme outline is below.

PE Days

For this term PE will take place on Tuesday (Outdoor) and Thursday (Indoor).

Children should come to school in their PE kit.

PE kit consists of

  • Plain black joggers or shorts.
  • Plain white T-shirt.
  • Trainers
  • Either a plain black hoodie or school green jumper or cardigan.

On these days children should come to school in their PE kit rather than school uniform.

Year 4 Homework

This is a reminder about homework in Year 4.

We give homework out on a Friday. This homework consists of one piece of literacy, one piece of numeracy and reading.

The literacy homework could be spellings from our spelling unit, SPAG or reading comprehension based.

The numeracy homework could be times tables or based on our learning in class.

Children bring home a reading diary and book each night. For each reading signature in their diary a reading raffle ticket will be awarded. At the end of each term a name is picked out from each class to win a book token.

Here We Are – Year 3 Update

Our work in literacy over the last few weeks has been based on this book by Oliver Jeffers. It focuses on our world, our place within it and how we should look after it and each other. This has enabled us to talk about our feelings about the world as it is at the moment and our experiences and how we see things looking forward. We have written letters to loved ones, poems, song lyrics and made leaflets and posters to remind people about the rules surrounding Covid.

In maths we have been learning about place value of numbers to 1000. We have ordered and compared them, partitioned them, written them in different ways and learnt some mental skills to help our arithmetic. Moving forward we are now thinking about mental methods of adding 3 digit numbers.

We have enjoyed going swimming and we are all gaining confidence in the water now. We are looking forward to continuing these sessions.

Welcome and Parent Info

Good morning,

Welcome to Year 3. We are very excited to meet you all on Thursday.

We would normally have a parent meeting on the first day back to school however due to the current climate we are not able to welcome you into the classrooms at the moment. However, please find attached the power point we would have shared with you on that evening which explains some of the work we will be doing in year 3. It also includes important days such as PE and homework expectations.

As always any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch with me via Dojo’s and i will be more than happy to help.

Parents open evening September 2020

Year 3 Year Assembly

We performed our number day assembly to our parents and careers. We have been learning our lines, practising our parts and remembering where to move to and when to sing. Our assembly was based on Number Day which is a campaign by the NSPCC to help children everywhere. Because of this we learnt number songs using our times table facts and even challenged the audience with a problem solving activity. Some of us had to overcome our fears to push ourselves to say our lines when the room was full of adults. We all did really well, and the donations from the tea and coffee went to the NSPCC.

Firemen Visit Year 3

Today we invited the local firefighters into school to discuss fire safety with year 3. We looked at different situations around the home and what can cause a fire risk to us. We were able to identify the different risks and discuss what we can do to eliminate that risk. After we thought about what we do in the event of a fire in our home. We talked about the importance of having a working smoke alarm that will alert us to smoke in the home and having a family escape plan so we can evacuate the house safely and wait the for fire brigade to come and help us. Finally we talked about the different emergency services that we have and what each service can help us with.

Anti-Bullying in Year 3

Anti Bullying Week

We have been talking about anti bulling in class this week. After looking at the different forms that bullying takes physical, emotional and social/cyber. We have looked at different scenarios and then acted this out. Finally we thought about how we could offer support to someone in these situations. We stated that is was always best to tell an adult that you trust to help you deal with the problem.
