Children in Year 5 participated in an ‘Explore University’ project. The purpose of the workshop was to raise aspirations for the future and encourage children to develop a passion for learning and attend university in the future.
We developed our understanding about what university life is like and the different parts of a university building. In teams, we worked collaboratively, under the direction of our team leader, to design part of the university (student union, library, academic learning spaces, restaurant, halls of residence) using LEGO. At the end of the session, we evaluated our learning and combined our work to produce the whole university building.
