Head’s Welcome

Yvonne Crilly our Head Teacher, welcomes you to our school.

Dear Parents and Carers,

I would like to warmly welcome you to our website on behalf of all the children, staff and Governors here at Woodlands Primary and Nursery School. I consider it a privilege to be the Headteacher of Woodlands and am incredibly proud of our school and it’s community.

Children’s well-being is at the centre of everything that we do. We provide a secure and stimulating environment, that enables us to personalise teaching, providing children with opportunities to develop skills, critical thinking and explore concepts. This allows our pupils to build their knowledge and understanding, through learning that captures their interests, stimulates their imagination and ignites a lifelong passion for learning. Children that attend Woodlands, have a range of opportunities, enabling them to extend their experience, develop their knowledge, imagination and understanding, so that they are able to achieve their full potential; gaining the best possible start to their educational life.

We endeavour to encourage our learners to be sensitive to the needs of others, to have a sense of fairness and justice and an ability to value the contribution of everyone. We endeavour to encourage in every child, attitudes of acceptance, co-operation, perseverance, independence, respect and responsibility. Each child that attends Woodlands is valued as an individual and we aim to encourage and foster their development intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally within a caring atmosphere. We aim to develop lively and enquiring minds with the ability to question, to think and to apply themselves to tasks.

We believe developing mutually respectful relationships with our families is essential; we view education as a joint undertaking. This involves everyone: the children, parents, staff, Governors and the wider community. We hope that we will be able to depend on your co-operation and support in this partnership; knowing that together we can provide the very best for every child that attends our setting.

I hope that you find our website useful and informative. If you have any questions or would like to come and visit our school, for further information, please feel free to contact the office to arrange a visit. I would be pleased to welcome you anytime.
