We are a group of enthusiastic dedicated parents who aim to put the FUN back into Fund Raising through extended schools activities for families.
Our focus over the next school year is to support the development of the school outdoor area and playground.
How you can get involved
There are lots of ways you can help and support your child through the FOW.
Offering to help before events or at other times during the year is so valuable. It doesn’t matter if you can’t help on a regular basis, or even if you cannot come into school. There are always jobs that can be done from home if you have half an hour to spare e.g. wrapping gifts, preparing raffle tickets etc. We really couldn’t achieve what we do without the behind the scenes help that we receive.
If you would like to be more involved you can volunteer to be a Class Representative or Committee Member. Or you can simply support the AGM and give us your ideas for fundraising events. This is also the time to ask questions or voice your opinion.
If you are interested in helping us or would like to join the Friends of Woodlands please contact Lynn Bailey, School ink Support Worker on 01952 386070. New faces are always welcome.
Thank you for all your ongoing support.
How we will be raising money
Like most PTAs, the majority of our funds are raised through the events that we run. Some of the schools most popular events are children discos, table sales, and Christmas fayres, cake sales and evening events.
How we spend the money we raise
Following a fundraising event, the money raised is banked straight away. It is at our Committee meetings, that the decision on how to spend the money is agreed.
The school may put forward a ‘wish list’ of items that the school would like the FOW to consider funding, or as a result of the children asking for something. At other times it will be for resources to improve a particular area of the curriculum or school environment. The FOR funds are spent on the ‘extras’ that are not provided by the school’s budget, thus making our children’s learning experiences so much more fulfilling and exciting. We are committed to spending money on things that will benefit the children directly.
The SCHOOL COUNCIL on behalf of Woodlands pupils play an active part in meetings in the decision making and allocation of funds.
LATEST EVENT NEWS
Annual General Meeting 2019
Coffee Morning, incorporating the PTA Annual General Meeting (AGM)
I hereby give notice of the AGM of the Friends of Woodlands PTA, to be held on Friday 1st February. The morning will commence at 9:00am with the PTA Annual General Meeting, followed by Coffee and biscuits in the Eco Lodge. We anticipate that the AGM should last approximately 20 minutes.
The PTA plays a vital part in the school community and all parents, as members of the PTA, are invited to support the AGM. This is your chance to hear and see how the funds you have helped to raise have been used for the benefit of the children/students at our school.
The AGM is also an opportunity for you to elect the PTA Committee, to represent the association throughout the forthcoming academic year. Nominations should be sent in advance of the AGM, for existing committee members willing to stand for re-election and for anyone wishing to stand as an Officer or Ordinary Committee Member, for the first time.
If you would like any further information about what is involved in being a Committee Member, please speak to Lynn Bailey or Jill Clinton. Before submitting your nomination form, please read the Charity Commission publication ‘The Essential Trustee – What you need to know’ (found through google).
