Journey to Freedom!

Henry's Freedom Box

After learning all about American Independence day last week and writing a non- chronological report about July 4th, we are  exploring the life of Henry ‘Box’ Brown.

During today’s lesson, we read the story ‘Henry’s Freedom Box’ by Ellen Levine.  We discussed the story of Henry Brown’s life using Key Questions involving many AFs; the social, ethnic, cultural or religious diversity of the past and characteristic features of the past including: beliefs, attitudes and experiences of men, women and children.  Our thoughts about the key questions are displayed on the working wall. This will help us with our work this week when we write a Henry ‘ Box’ Brown’s biography.
