March in Year 4

Wow! It’s been another busy month in year 4.

We have been really immersing ourselves in our RE unit of work, learning all about Islam and Christianity with visits to the Mosque and the Easter Experience where the church came to us to teach us all about Easter!

In literacy, we have used our research skills to find out about Viking and Anglo-Saxon way of life. We then used our research to write a non-chronological report learning about the features of this genre of writing and using fronted adverbials and expanded noun phrases to add more detail.

As mathematicians, we have learnt how to find unit and non-unit fractions of amounts, equivalent fraction and decimals. Not only this, but we have also been exploring 12 hour time on analogue and digital clocks and converting between the two.

In Science, we have continued with our sound topic and have been investigating which materials work best as sound-proofers.

As musicians, we have been learning the recorder, reading staff notation and also exploring the features of gospel music.

In PE, we have been practising our football and gymnastics skills and our painting skills in art.

In Computing, we have been exploring computer networks and how information is routed through the internet. We have also taken part in Safer Internet Day, learning about the dangerous of Phishing as well as identify reliable information online.

During PSHE lessons, we have been thinking about emotions and developing strategies to help us deal with them.

Not only all of this, but we have also celebrated our circus themed World Book Day and Red Nose Day!
