November learning in Year 4

It’s been another busy month, we’ve even had a visit from Pudsey the bear for Children in Need!

In literacy, we have been continuing with our European Explorers topic and have researched the biomes and climate of Russia, Poland, Spain and the UK. We have then used our research to write a piece of comparative writing, looking at the similarities and differences between these countries and using the conjunctions and adverbials we have been learning about.

As mathematicians, we have been looking at different formal written multiplication and division strategies and using our place value knowledge.

It has been Anti-bullying week this month with the theme ‘One Kind Word’ so we have been thinking about how we can use kind words online and in real life. We have also been looking at how to keep safe online as part of computing, using the text ‘Webster’s friend’ to prompt discussion around people not always being as they seem.

During our PE lessons we have been working on our map reading skills in orienteering and thinking about how we can move our bodies in Dance.

In Science we have continued with our topic of States of Matter and have been classifying materials and thinking about how they can change state.

Not only all of this, but we have been putting our sketching skills to the test and learning about the 5 pillars of Islam in RE.
