During this half term, Year 5 will be continuing our theme on the Conflict within the monarchies. Looking closely at the Victorian era, whilst using the text Street Child by Berlie Doherty.
In Literacy, the children will begin by learning how to write explanation texts, using Victorian inventions, to writing setting descriptions, diary entries and discursive debates.
Numeracy will focus on decimals and percentages, moving on to Geometry, where the children will develop their knowledge of the properties of shapes, and understand position and direction, position and movement, such as reflection or translation.
This terms Science theme focuses on Earth and Space. The children will investigate the movement of the planets, moon and use the idea of the Earth’s rotation to explain day and night and the apparent movement of the sun across the sky.
