‘Stay Safe Online and Mobile Phones’
The Woodlands Safeguarding Team worked with year 3 – 6 to support learning about staying safe online and when using mobile phones.
We believe e-safety education is essential in helping children to be aware of the potential risks and dangers and stay safe when using the internet and social networking sites, such as Facebook and Whats App.
The Woodlands Safeguarding Team gave the children information about how to keep themselves safe from harm and how to get help if they have any worries, in a child friendly way..
Age appropriate information was delivered to both KS1 and KS2 through separate assemblies, plus workshops for years 4 -6..
- KS1 plus Year 3 watched a video called ‘Lee & Kim’ Suitable for children 5 – 7 yrs by CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre).
- KS2 learnt about the 5 SMART E-Safety rules when using the internet and mobile phones.
The SMART rules have been developed by Childnet (www.childnet.com) with the aim of keeping young people safe online.
Each child in KS2 received a sticker saying ‘I AM SMART’ when they completed the online safety workshop to show they understand the 5 steps to staying safe online.
