What have year 1 been up to in April?

In year 1 we have been learning all about multiplication. We have used practical resources to make equal groups and build arrays to solve multiplication calculations. Some of the children have been learning how to use their jottings to find the answer, drawing the groups with the correct amount in each.

Below you will see a selection of images showing the children using practical resources to support their learning.

During our project learning we have been finding out about animals and their classification groups – reptiles, mammals, amphibians, fish and birds. We have used information books and search engines to find out what characteristics animals need to have to belong to each groups. The children have then shared their findings through discussions, writing facts, drawing diagrams and using loose parts. Here are some photos of the children’s learning.
