As a year group, we enjoyed a walk around our local area (Madeley) visiting significant buildings and plaques, representing both the disastrous event ‘The Nine Men of Madeley’ and the Victorian era in general.

These things demonstrate the impact the disaster had on Madeley as a society and the achievement of infrastructure – buildings – built in the Victorian times as some of them are still used today.

On our walk, we also discovered that a previous monarch, Charles II, was hidden in the building shown in picture three, during the English Civil War in order to protect him from capture, and likely harm.

We are really looking forward to finding out more over the next few weeks!
