This week the children in year 1 have been retelling the story ‘the gingerbread man’ using puppets. Some of our remote learners decided to retell other familiar tales such as ‘Goldilocks and the three bears’. They also created their own scene of Jack and the Beanstalk and thought about different lands that Jack may find at the top of the beanstalk. The children then used these to rewrite part of the story.
During our maths the children have practising their addition and subtraction skills by playing a range of maths games. They have also access a range of tasks on Education City so that they could secure their understanding of counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s.
In our project sessions we have had a design and technology focus. The children have designed, made, tested and evaluated a product that would help keep them dry. They thought carefully about the material that they could use and why it would be best for the job.
The children have even had a go at chopping fruit to make a fruit salad. Those at home helped their grown ups make their lunch making sure that they practised their chopping skills.
