Year 4 October Update

What another busy month in year 4!

The children have continued with their hard work and are using our secrets of success to achieve new learning across all subjects.

In literacy, we have continued to look at different clauses by using co-ordinating conjunctions to join clauses together. We have then started our focus on persuasive writing by identifying both its structural and grammatical features.

In maths, we have continued to use our formal written methods for both addition and subtraction. Also we have used tally and bar graphs to interpret and present data as well as to solve comparison, sum and difference problems.

In science, we have been using our knowledge of circuits to investigate which materials make the best conductors and which materials are insulators.

In our Personal Development, we have continued to take responsibility for our own happiness and actions by understanding our own wellbeing. We have also identified and explored our similarities and differences to realise that we are all unique.

As part of “Black History” month, we have research the “Windrush Generation” using dairies entries to understand their thoughts and feelings.

In RE, we have begun to learn about the 5 Pillars of Islam and their meaning to the Muslim faith.

In computing, we have been developing our computer literacy skills by editing digital images using a range of editing tools in order to add, remove and change the composition of an image. We have also then thought about editing and image for a specific scenario.
